inside people's memories, i can live forever.

I'm a nerd in my late twenties with a degree in studio art that I am currently not using. This blog is a huge dump for things I like, pointless posts about my everyday life, or just whatever the fuck I feel like posting.

I try to tag everything fairly consistently.

I’m really amazed by the inability of Chick-fil-A supporters to not get the issue. THIS IS NOT ABOUT FREE SPEECH. Do you know ANYONE who is saying that the Cathys don’t have the right to express whatever bigoted opinions they want? No. Speech should [almost] never be subject to government restriction or penalties, but “freedom of speech” doesn’t mean freedom from criticism, freedom from social censure, freedom from economic consequences. That’s number one. Number two, this is about the BEHAVIOR of Chick-fil-A as a COMPANY; Cathy’s remarks were just a remarkable catalyst to draw the public’s attention. They donate millions of dollars to anti-equality groups. Why should anyone who believes in equality support that indirectly? It’s a no brainer. This issue is really fucking simple. If you choose to consume Chick-fil-A, you are supporting a company that bankrolls anti-equality activism and lobbying. Those of us who oppose Chick-fil-A are opposed to our dollars being used to promote policies that are an affront to equality and human dignity. You have a right to your bigotry and to pay for its promotion, but the fact that we don’t want to be complicit in it doesn’t mean we’re against free speech. And the fact that bigotry should be SOCIALLY unacceptable doesn’t necessarily mean that those who oppose bigotry think expressing it should be LEGALLY restricted, which is what freedom of speech is all about. Seriously, people. It’s not that hard to understand.

blog-meets-world:

So I wore my gay pride shirt to school today.

And in chemistry class I was talking to my friend, Jack, about a gay pride festival I went to. My teacher, stupid nosy bitch, decides she wants to join in on the conversation. She asks me what I’m talking about so I turned around and her reaction was to make a noise of utter disgust. She asked me to go to the main office and get a different shirt. But being the rebel that I am, I told her very politely “no, if you don’t like it you don’t have to look at it. It’s my shirt, not yours, and there’s nothing wrong with it.” She told me again that I needed to change my shirt. I said again that I wasn’t and she told me she would have to send me to my administrator for direct disrespect. So I put on a big smile and packed my stuff up while she wrote the discipline report up.

But the thing that made me so happy that I didn’t give in and change was that as I was walking out the door a girl in my class stood up and started to walk with me. My teacher was kinda pissed and told her that she would get a write up if she didn’t sit down. And this girl, she is my fucking hero. She says: “Write me up then. It’s one more story that I can go home and tell my mothers. And I’m sure my girlfriend would love to hear it, too.” Then she smiled and walked out. I just felt the need to share what happened today with my lovely followers.

this is amazing

Reblogging every time this comes on my dash.

I Would Like To Point Out That…

Oreo is a Nabisco brand. So if Oreo supports gay rights, then perhaps the whole of Nabisco does as well. And if that is the case, then there’s a whole lot of other brands the bigots would have to boycott.

Wow…just…no words

Willard M. Romney is unfit for command.
I also think we should all be demanding his birth certificate, his school transcripts (K-12 and University), his medical records, and, last but certainly NOT least, every single tax return he has ever filed.

Mary Jamis, a lesbian woman, was ARRESTED yesterday after she and her partner sought a marriage license in North Carolina.
Share this if you think it’s outrageous.

Arrested for attempted marriage? Excuse me?

Ok while the whole idea of getting arrested because they were trying to get married is fucking ludicrous, at the same time, it was just made illegal. It was big news and everyone knows about it, including them, I’m sure. If you go do something illegal, you get arrested. I don’t agree with the idea of gay marriage being illegal obviously, but you have to have some sense and realize that though NC made a stupid decision on a law, they still have to uphold it, because it’s the law. You break it, they have to prosecute.
I hope these women get released and move elsewhere where they can marry and be a loving family in peace with the same rights as anyone else, because NC? This is ridiculous.

Actually, homosexual marriage has been banned in NC for a long time. What they did was take away rights for domestic unions- INCLUDING those of heterosexuals. Now only MARRIAGES get all the benefits. No civil unions, REGARDLESS of sexual orientation.
